Background
Haven is a 4-legged high end accommodation unit built for the harsh environment of the North Sea with the highest safety specifications owned and operated by Macro Offshore. Haven can accommodate a 400-man personnel on board and was required to be repositioned and deployed to assist in the Total Denmark Tyra field re-development.
Challenge
In close co-operation with the rig owners and operators, OMC were enlisted to provide a variety of rig move skills and expertise to assist with the mobilisation and subsequent install of the 4-legged accommodation jack up Haven from Norway alongside the Tyra field offshore Denmark.
Solution
Macro Offshore and Total Denmark worked closely with OMC rig move specialists and offshore brokerage to deliver:
- Towmaster expertise
- Rig move procedures planning and implementation
- Mooring plan design
- Source and acquisition of marine equipment required to complete the rig move
Results and Benefits
OMC successfully assisted and aided in the mobilisation and installation of Haven alongside the Tyra complex to assist and house professionals involved in the Tyra field re-development. OMC provided a combination of services to ensure safe, smooth redeployment of Haven tailored to meet the specific needs of this project.
The Tyra field and platforms have been an instrumental part of Danish infrastructure for over 30 years processing 90% of the country’s natural gas production. The Tyra redevelopment project aims to boost economic and social benefits, but it also hopes to be a catalyst for other redevelopment opportunities in the North Sea and beyond.
